"Dementia Toolbox"

The "Dementia Toolbox" is a two day Training Seminar for professionals who provide care to persons who are affected by Alzheimer's Disease or a related Dementia.  The Seminar is designed to meet time constaints and can be broken down into ten equal components and spread if need be over a ten session period within any suitable time frame for the organization.

Seminar discusses:  Understanding Alzheimer's Disease and related Dementias;  Providing Care for the Person with Alzheimer's Disease in Various Settings;  Family Issues related to Alzheimer's Disease Care and related Dementias;  Communication Techniques with persons who have Alzheimer's Disease or a related Dementia;  Assesment and Management of Challenging Behaviors in Alzheimer's Disease and related Dementias; Enhancement of Personal/Physical Care and Maintaining Nutrition;  Principles of Person Centred Care;  Terminal Care and Legal and Ethical Issues in Advanced Alzheimer's Disease;  Care for the Caregiver: Professional and Family;  Wandering and Inappropriate Sexual Behavior;  Advance Care Planning;  Deliriun, Depression, Hallucinations/Delusions, Paranoia and Suspiciousness;  The "inner world" of feelings as experienced by the person with Alzheimer Disease or a related Dementia;  Aggression-Intervention Strategies;  The Aggression Cycle and Aggression Care Analysis.

Please call the Public Education Coordinator at (807) 468-1516/1-800-682-0245 to host a training Seminar for your organization.  The complete Seminar is designed to be a two day session.  But it is flexible in that the sessions can be broken into the appropriate time constraints for an organization.  Therefore the two days may be spread over ten sessions within any suitable time frame period.
