The Alzheimer Society of Canada.....

- provides support, information and education to people with Alzheimer's Disease, families, physians and health care providers
including arranging support groups and providing telephone counselling;
- provides a wide range of information in print, videos and audio tapes for the person with the disease as well as for their
families;
- has a bilingual Web site (www. alzheimer.ca) that includes a section with the disease, a discussion forum where caregivers
can share information and tips, and current information specifically for physicians;
- operates the Safely Home (tm)- Alzheimer Wandering Registry program that helps find a person with Alzheimer's Disease
who is lost and assists in a safe return home;
- has created a set of Ethical Guidelines, a groundbreaking document to address the ethics of Alzheimer care;
- recommends Guidelines for Care, a booklet that defines quality care for people with the disease;
- is a leading source of funds for Alzheimer research in Canada, investing over $3 million annually to find cause and cure
of Alzheimer's Disease and improve the lives of those affected;
- holds a nationwide fundraising event-Alzheimer Coffee Break (tm)- each September, to raise funds to support local Alzheimer
Society programs and services;
