Care Providers and Stress

The Signs of Caregiver Stress

Denial....about the disease.  "The person will get better.  The professionals have erred in their diagnosis."

Anger....directed at the individual with Alzheimer's Disease.  "If I am asked that question one more time, I'll scream."

Social Isolation...."I really no longer care for the friendships of others."

Anxiety....tomorrow holds no hope, the future is very dark.

Depression....a state of sadness and hopelessness most of the time.

Being continually exhausted....just able to get through the day.

Poor sleeping pattern...."rarely sleeping through the night, always listening if the person is up."

Emotional Reactions....irritable at insignificant issues which are minor in nature.

Lack of Concentration....inability or difficulty in performing with complex tasks.

Health related issues....loss or gain of weight, sick more often.
